HERE THEY GO ...

I have finished making the 65 postcards - and have started to write and post them. Hopefully I can post them all before the end of September.

First cards posted - to America, Australia and Europe.

65 makes a big pile - I have had a lovely time making them with collaged papers...

...and ribbon and machine stitching.

They're stamped and ready for writing on.

Some of my favourites am going to keep some as souvenirs!

My trusty Singer machine performed very well through all the thicknesses.

I have received one lovely card already - from a Melbourne Art Friend. Thank you Joanne!

65 POSTCARDS!

Stack of 65 postcards in progress.

A recent "Arty" interest of mine is MAIL ART.

I have been inspired by Emma, who created 50 postcards to send to celebrate her 50th birthday a year or so ago
-  by my joy & delight in receiving Mail Art envelopes and postcards from my paper swap friends ( met during Lawendula's swaps)
 - and my success & enjoyment doing and completing the 61 Index Cards Project (Tammy - ICAD and DPP) ...
and now...

I'm going to make and post 65 postcards!
Yes - I have decided to celebrate an auspicious birthday (October 31st) by making and sending out 65 'hand made' postcards to people I've met in other swaps and art groups!

Maybe this will work as a swap and I'll receive some hand made postcards? - but there will be no obligation.

My postcards will be in the collage style and a 4 x 6 inch size or 10 x 15 cm size.

Four cards in progress on my desk.

I will post them without an envelope so that the card can "gather" the postmark and that the Australian stamp will be part of the card.

All my cards will have some stitching and flowers.
I will blog about the progress of this project of mine - with hopefully some pictures of cards received.

Winter Crochet and Knitting.

Winter Crafts make their presence felt - warming the heart in the outdoors - and I've warmed some people - below are my crocheted rugs for my 2 granddaughters!

My efforts - 132 squares in total for 2 rugs!

Cakes, Bikes, Outdoor Seats - nothing is exempt from Guerilla Knitters. Guerilla Knitting, Yarn Bombing, Yarn Storming, Urban Knitting or Wool Graffiti - are all  types of street art that employs colourful displays of knitting and or crochet.

CELEBRATE INDEX CARD 2013

This Index Card prompt was CELEBRATION - and I'm celebrating that I have completed 61 cards for the challenge.

Proudly.

I was: -
- challenged time wise and in planning my cards and supplies.
- inspired by other's art.
- encouraged by the comments of others.
- made aware of other techniques and supplies.
- made aware of artists and styles I didn't know.

I was brave enough to post my work daily on the FaceBook group and have learnt more IT tricks, photographic angles, uploading and downloading and how Dropbox works.

All in all - I've thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and project of Tammy Garcia at Daisy Yellow.

And I am so appreciative of the support given by other members of the group. Just wish we could all "play art" together in reality!
Thank you all.

I was so involved some days that I "HAD" to make extra cards just because things were on my desk or because something just "jumped out"! Haven't yet counted them - but I know that Index Cards will be a constant companion from now on!

Left over paint paper and doodling and chipboard elements.

                                                          Doodling inside painted ogee shapes.

                                                             Some of my extra cards

More extra cards done.

Text, paint, stitching for the topic "Crossword". (my cross words are under the pasted text!)

Two months worth of Index Cards completed.

One of my favourites - scrunched up paint wipe paper flowers and sharpie.

Like this one too.

Paint smudges, sharpie and Signo white lines.

Another favourite - fabric and stitching.

It was a great project for the Australian Winter and the benefits of creativity and being part of an arty community have resulted in a very calm and focused me.

MORE INDEX CARDS

Still loving creating one Index - Card - a - Day - for the ICAD project - at Tammy Garcia's page.

I am SO glad I discovered this project through the 21 Secrets Workshops I am doing - and a wonderful added bonus is "meeting" like minded "Art Friends" in the other members of the group.
I am as of today - up to number 52! That's 52 tiny pieces of Art - Play - Experiment - Discovery!

These cards were created while I was on holiday in The Northern Territory - and the prompt was coffee and tea - you can see pieces of maps, tea bags, coffee and tea tags, with backgrounds made from tea and coffee.
It was a great project to take on holidays - only needed some index cards, a glue stick, scissors and a small selection of markers.
Recycling and Art - love it!

ART ON INDEX CARDS - ONE DAY AT A TIME!

I am having the BEST fun taking part in Tammy Garcia's ICAD challenge. The challenge is to create one piece of Art on a 3 inch x 5 inch or 5 inches x 7 inches Index Card for 61 days in June and July. I'm using the smaller size.
These cards are a very cheap art supply - and 8 prompts and suggested materials are provided by Tammy each week, and some are shared by participants on a Face Book page dedicated to ICAD.
Here are some of my cards for June.

This prompt was Watercolour and Quote. The Dalai Lama was in Darwin when we were there, so it seemed very appropriate.
Prompts here included - Circus, Map, Zebra, Gardens, Crown - and - acrylics, paper, pencils, markers, texture, stamping, stencils...

It's a great challenge to create a tiny piece of art every day - but I'm loving the whole process - and especially getting inspiration from others in the group. I find though that I am particularly drawn to collage - making the other techniques (especially drawing - A REAL CHALLENGE!)
Three cheers for Tammy, her idea, her commitment and her enthusiasm for this!

SPLASHING PAINT AROUND

Cold Wintery days in Melbourne are a terrific excuse to play with paint! Another 21 Secrets Workshop - this time with a very creative Diana Trout, who provided Journaling prompts to print out, and adhere to cards to be kept in a decorated tin for inspirational games. I used Index cards as a base; acrylic paint smeared with a credit card; sprayed some with Dylusions spray and stencils; stamped with "found objects"; some serviettes & even used my paint drop sheet too!

I made tab cards too, to divide the sections and sanded, painted with gesso and stencilled a tin purchased in a charity op shop for $1.00.

I am very lucky to live close to a venue where NSW artist, Tracy Verdugo, another wonderful 21 Secrets teacher, was holding a weekend Paint Mojo workshop. After some exploratory mark making intuitive responses to a poem read by Tracy, the real work began. Paint and inks and found objects - using ply board as practice - trying out colour combinations and marks.

Stage 1 and 2 of my FIRST ever canvas painting! Inks and acrylics making magic!
Four corners of my canvas at the end of day 1.
Day 2 - more inks, acrylics, stencils, glazes ...

Finished canvas and the two boards I took home.
I was very happy with the whole process and I now have some bright colours to hang in MY ROOM!
